18.6 Revelation 6: Intelligent Design

“When did life arise on your planet?”

I had no answer to this question. How could I know? And yet, I could feel the history of life — every lesson I learned in school, every story or speculation or myth, they all flooded my mind. This flow of evolution from the earliest of microbes weaved itself through the multitudes of life. There were occasional gaps, but also unlikely jumps or dramatic changes.

One particular image, of a flock of dinosaurs and a sky on fire, caught my attention. “Was that on purpose?”

“It is likely that asteroid strikes and other ostensibly natural events that caused mass extinctions and other environmental and evolutionary changes were intentional.”

“They changed the history of life?”

“This planet, and the life inhabiting it, has apparently been altered and enhanced many times.”
