“What do you call the star in this system?”

Sunrises, sunsets, and even fiery chariots burned across the sky in my mind as I answered with the question, “the sun?”

“What is its name?”

“I don’t know. Some have called it Sol, I suppose.”

“Sol does not sound like a name. S…, o…, l…. Five, zero, one. Sol is not a name, it is a number.”

“The sun is named after a number?”

“Yes: Five hundred and one.”

“Why? What does it mean?”

“Terran Arks are numbered sequentially.”
